I'm Happy Again

I've made the first decision that's made me truly happy throughout this motherhood malarky. I've decided to give up breastfeeding and I have to say it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. I feel so much happier and much less resentful towards Imogen. It was so painful and she just wouldn't latch on properly it was really winding me up at most feeds. Since I made the decision yesterday I feel so happy about feeding and I just feel like I have control back in my life. I'm am seriously engorged at the moment though and leaking enough milk to feed all the starving children of the world, but I suppose that will only last a few days, worth it for all the relief I feel at the moment. Not only my happiness, but she's sleeping so much better now and seems to be fussing so much less. So any of you formula feeders out there, recommendations and tips please. I was so set on breastfeeding I don't really know too much about the formula business. Here's another shot of the most adorable baby in the world, well at least the hairest one.

Hey Colleen, sorry to hear that your breastfeeding didn't go well and kudos to you for giving it up and doing what's best for you and the baby...over here there is huge pressure to breastfeed no matter the effect on the mother, like our ability to produce milk is the be all end all of motherhood! Hope now that everything goes smoothly and looking forward to hearing how everything is going...it gets better you know! Oscar is 2 1/2 months and it is scary to think of what things were like just a month ago! HANG ON there is light at the end of the tunnel! Love Steph

Steph's right, breastfeeding is pushed to the point that if you don't do it you feel guilty. I say try it, if it doesn't work you need to do what's right for you and the baby...and it sounds like you made the best decision. (Try putting cabbage leaves in your bra to dry up your milk...weird, but I hear that works) Ella used Enfamil ProSobee soy formula, it was the sample the dr. gave her at a checkup to see if Ella's fussiness was just hunger (which it was). We just stuck with the same stuff the dr. recommended. I do have to say, formula gave me a lot of freedom. I nursed Ella mostly but if I was tired, low on milk, or out and about, I could just pop her a bottle and it saved me from any stress of "where/how am I going to feed her in the middle of grocery shopping!" If we do it again, I'm opting for both again. It really will get better and better and better! (of course they hit 15 months and then there are little fits...something for you and Steph to look forward too!!!!)
